Agreed about the stress. However,
I definately like the bigger ball and the>this (too)fast-paced environment. no-service rule. For me, it was very stressful to play a guy log Rob Trudell who I'm more than equal to in strokes, footwork and blocking, but lose to him b/c I couldn't even put his serve back on the table! The bigger ball helps me to return serves, and though hidden serves is not really a huge problem at my level, I'm still glad to see that it won't be bothering the pros. marco |

Rob
your imagination is almost as good as S-Jan's. And you are almost as
certifiable as I am.
marco
ps...when the
service rule changes go into effect, you'll be my bitch.

Marco, You need to practice pushing, especially with those fast rubbers (Bryce FX?). Seems like you had no touch at all including your serve. Rob, I like the first camera angle better. Thanks for these videos. |

:
Rob played well this game, he had several good blocks, good serves etc. My excuse for this match is that it came 5 minutes after a tremendous 7-gamer with a chopper. In that match with that chopper I was down 10-8 in the 7th, saved 2 match points and went on to win the match. That match left me mentally and physically drained and I had not much left for Rob, as you can see by this 3-1 quick loss. To beat Rob I have to move the ball around, especially high slow spins into his body. Here I just went half-heartedly attacking straight into his backhand, and I never moved into a better position when he would attack I just sort of stand there flat. One last excuse is that this was a giant round-robin event and I knew that even if I lose this match I still win the event. This was my first Under2000 First Place Trophy. Marco |

When I watched the match I was also suprised that both of you seemed to hit right to the other instead of making the other man move. Almost like both of you said, "Hey, I don't want to move too much, so you hit it to me and I'll hit it back to you." Anyway thanx for posting the match. You know all of us non-Arizonans have an advantage it we ever make it out to a tournament in Phoenix:) Van Savell |

notes:
For some reason, it looks like you are working hard, and Rob is hardly working, particularly on serves and serve returns. Perhaps you two have played so often with each other, that you know what is coming. |

asks:
marco, Does your ankle ever get sore from all that serve-stomping? Steve http://forums.about.com/ab-tabletennis/messages?msg=17760.10 Marco (MarcoHere) replies: in fact it does. But I've now changed my serves. I'm serving more like Matt Winkler now. In fact, I'm taking lessons from Matt once a week. It's good to have someone to drill you, multiball you, and criticize you once a week. In addition, I'm doing a lot of running and yoga. I hope that I can be well over 2000 and around 200 pounds by the end of 2005. Matt is proving to be a good coach and a great blocker. In addition, he has a lot of power so I can definitely get good blocking and counterlooping practice out of him. Marco http://forums.about.com/ab-tabletennis/messages?msg=17760.11 |

What's the white thing on your left ear? Reminds me of a scene from the movie "Something About Mary". :O) ----------------------------
