I am going to check your eyes. Keep your head still and follow this with your eyes without moving your head. Do you understand?

Walk and turn

Instructions to subject

When I tell you, I want you to place your left foot in front of you.  Your right foot in fronto of your left foot in a heel to toe position.  Stay in that position until I tell you to begin.  Do you understand?  Yes.   When I tell you to begin, take nine (9) heel to toe steps in a straight line and take nine (9) heel to toe steps back.  When you turn, you must keep the front foot on the line and turn on the line by taking several small steps with the other foot.  Keep your hands at your sides.  Watch your feet at all times, count each step out loud, and do not stop once you have started.  Do you understand? I want you to stand with your feet together and arms down to your sides.  Do not do anything else until I tell you to begin.  Do you understand?  Yes.  When I tell you to begin, I want you to raise the leg of your choice, six (6) inches off the ground and point your toe.  Keep your eyes focused on your toe.  At the same time, I want your to count out loud from 1001 until I tell you to stop.  Do you understand?  Yes.
