I did use the Quattro for the first three matches.  Two doubles then a lost singles match against a 1375 player  (I'm 1636)  who played great and had the ideal game to beat me.  I had some free time and was talking to Tom at Zero Pong about carbon blades.  He let me try a test Gambler Arylate/Carbon blade with LKT Torrent on one side and Gambler six shooter on the other.  It felt good practicing with it so I used it against Steve Hochman (1929) in the over 40 singles.  He beat me in three but all the games were close.  I then lost in five to Eddie Bertin (1924), Diana Li (1943) and Bernard Brutas (1892) I was serving match points to Diana and Eddie but didn't win.    I stayed with the carbon for the rest of the tournament.  Both paddles felt very similar and I'm not sure which one I'll use in the future.

The coach talked to me about not trying to make something out of nothing.  Keep the ball in play until you get the shot you want.  Stay loose but when you get your shot relax and take your full swing, don't try to guide the ball.  Change spins and locations when looping.

Heavyspins serves are very deceptive with way more spin than you think is on the ball.  I thought I read the direction of most spins, but not the amount of spin.  Most of my returns wern't very close to being good.

My name is Mike Sturtevant.  I played well but lost many close matches.  Although I advanced in the U1750's the B player defaulted so my wins were against two 1400 players.  The first playoff match I beat a 1450 player and got another default and lost the next round to a 1600+ player.  In the over 40 U1800 I beat all three players including a 1726 player.  I lost the playoffs to a 1700+ player who played very well.

I should end up with a rating of around 1600.  Although I was disappointed with the tournament I think what I learned will help me in the future.
